Highlights: Budapest - Opera House, Heroes' Square, City Park, St. Stephen's Basilica, Parliament, Castle Hill with Mathias Church and Fishermen's Bastion. Visegrád: Royal Palace, Citadel and Solomon Tower.

 

Walking: 1 full day (4), several shorter walks and city walks

 

YOUR PROGRAM:

Day 1 - Budapest

Arriving in Budapest, how about a city walk first? The location of your hotel allows to see some main sights while walking along Andrássy avenue: the Opera House, Heroes' Square, City Park, St Stephen's Basilica - and many more.

Overnight in Budapest.

 

 

Day 2 - Budapest

Today, you make an excursion into the woods of the Buda Hills.  Enjoy the cog railway and forest train rides, walk through shady forest paths and climb the 'Elizabeth viewpoint' on top of 'János-hegy'. Yo can take in splendid views of Budapest during a chair lift ride, downhill.

Dinner and overnight in Budapest. (B, D)

 

 

Day 3 - Visegrád

The Danube Bend, maybe the most spectacular region of Hungary is just a short ride from Bdapest away. Take a bus or ship to arrive in Visegrád, once a major royal residence. Take your time to explore the fresh restored Renaissance monuments and enjoy a walk at the Danube.

Day 4 - Visegrád

Today you take a circular walk in the mountains around Visegrád and take in the beautiful sights of the Danube Bend and its surroundings. After this full day walk we'll pamper you with a farewell Renaissance dinner

Day 5  - Departure

You say goodbye to the Danube Bend and Budapest today - or stay for another couple of days, optionally.  (B)
